The Mall of Switzerland is a shopping and leisure centre in Ebikon. Its 46,000 m2 of space is home to 150 shops, a number of restaurants and bars, a multiplex cinema, flats and a hotel. It’s hardly surprising that a construction scheme of this complexity ran into the occasional hitch. During construction, 100 glass panes got damaged. Bulletproof, but scratched: restoring glass for the German Navy

The naval arm of the German Armed Forces commissioned GLASSRESQ to repair and restore the special glass windows in the captain’s cabin on one of their reconnaissance ships. Any damage to the glass must be dealt with quickly, so that the vehicle can get back on track as soon as possible. Working as an active partner of the City of Zurich, GLASSRESQ provides this service within 24 hours. “I have to say, we’re very impressed”, said Hansjörg Fink, Director of the VBZ’s Tram Maintenance department.

Glass repair in record time for ETH

This was an unusual contract for GLASSRESQ. Zurich university Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) entrusted our young company to restore scratched window panes in the newly built Hönggerberg student residence. It would have been extremely expensive and time-consuming to replace the damaged window panes, and time was pressing: the official handover and inauguration of the new building was approaching rapidly. The event had been scheduled months in advance and the guest list featured numerous prominent cultural and political figures. Postponing it was not an option. If the event was not able to take place on schedule, the costs would soar through the roof. The only solution was to repair the windows – and to the great relief of ETH Zurich, GLASSRESQ succeeded in flawlessly restoring the glass panes in a very short time. The ETH high-ups were delighted with the results, and gave the renovation high praise: “GLASSRESQ is the first glass restoration company to deliver on what they promise.”

On track against glass vandalism with the SBB

The SBB struggles with vandalism at its headquarters in Bern and numerous other SBB railway stations. The problem is obvious – but initially there was considerable scepticism about GLASSRESQ’s glass surface restoration services. Was it actually possible, wondered the SBB decision-makers in the Buildings and RailClean department, to restore damage as extensive and conspicuous as this? They decided to give us a trial. The final results did more than just convince them it was possible – they found themselves really impressed.
The directors of Buildings and RailClean were delighted by the speed of the service, as well as the environmentally friendly results and the huge cost savings. Hans-Peter Meier, head of Buildings at SBB: “Incredible, what these GLASSRESQ wizards have achieved”. Further work is under discussion, including Zurich’s main station, and a permanent maintenance contract with GLASSRESQ is being set up.
